This too shall pass is a travelling fundraiser which will tour NZ and overseas through 2012 and 2013. It aims to support the regeneration of red-zoned contemporary jewellery gallery THE NATIONAL by engaging the wider community in small acts of generosity. Money is raised by the sale of THIS TOO SHALL PASS ribbons, which are:
- assembled by well-wishers who volunteer their time, then
- distributed by galleries that waive their commission fees, then
- gifted on by purchasers to anyone they know who could need a little extra help
Pass it on invites viewers to become involved by assembling the ribbons (a simple sewing task). It is facilitated either by gallery display, where viewers are invited to take a sewing kit, assemble the ribbons and post them back, or by sewing bees organized in galleries, studios, kitchens…..
If you would like to buy a ribbon I would love to hear from you: sarah.read@xtra.co.nz .
